i am not a MOTHER..

so what!

 MAY  2015

I eat, I pray, and I love. Yes, I am over 30 years young, college educated, attractive, articulate, out-going, with a mean "all about me" habit. I’ve stomped out of the concrete jungle, and mixed it up with the most weirdly interesting people, in the most weirdly interesting places. I have had the MOST fun in the sun, and dirty danced naked in the moonlight. As a child I was taught Swahili, and wore my head covered, when I accompanied my mother to the mosque as a young muslim.

When I was in Jr. High School, modeling and auditioning for television commercials was my extracurricular activity. When I got a little more grown in High School, I got to put my vocals to work when I auditioned for the Broadway play "Rent". I even made it the second round of the process. I sought out my higher education down in the bayou, and I have a personal stash of Mardi Gras beads, and blackmail pictures to prove it (that I can bounce).

I splashed in the ocean while vacationing in Jamaica and even fought off a Caribbean man that was so intoxicated by my American gal fiyah. I have been in the company of celebrities, dignitaries, and policy-makers. I have been personally invited to dine in mansions and penthouse suites.

Once while on a 3 day champagne diet, I had to muster up the strength to relocate my good girlfriend to God knows where.

I have consciously increased my knowledge, and respect of self, while maintaining my skillful art of flirtation. I have participated in think-tanks, worked voter registration drives, buried my closet loved ones and held my own when asking for a raise at the fortune 500 company I slaved at. I have cried, screamed, listened, heard, watched, touched, tasted, felt, kissed, danced, laughed, and taught. I love BEING me, simply.

I am not a mother, yet…so what!

I wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers

around the globe. Especially to my own mother,

Iris.

I love you!
