February is the month for love, lovers, and those who have stumbled upon liking someone. On or around the 14th day of the month the workplace hears a hubbub. There are ladies receiving expensively priced flowers delivered to the office. Kids around town will be trading those little white envelopes with the colorful valentine “be mine” cards on the schoolyard.  Your favorite Italian restaurant will be packed to the hilt with young and old couples, ordering more tiramisu than the restaurant can keep up with. Men will wonder into jewelry stores, and women will make their way to buying new lingerie. Diamonds and lace is a recipe for passion. But, we cannot forget the pressure on a new “relationship” around Valentine’s Day. It can be pretty intense…

LET

RULE

She immediately books an appointment to get a bikini wax, then jets off to VS to buy a cute matching bra and panty set. Now he on the day of decides to wash his sheets and buy a few candles to put around his place. He puts the phone down and thinks - should I get her a gift? Nah no gift, just dinner, dessert then sex, right? She thinks to herself - I hope he gets me a gift, and then we’ll have dinner, dessert, go dancing, and take a drive out to the pier to sip champagne, then sex, right?

Yes, this interaction is all surface and Valentine’s Day is 100% commercialized. Is this love? No, probably not. Will they become lovers by the end of the night? Yes, probably so. Whatever you want to call it, it feels good. It feels especially good when somebody loves you, and even likes you back. Yes, even you with all of your flaws, short-comings, bad habits and nervous conditions. When you’ve found love it is magically beautiful. It is an indescribable warm, safe feeling that your friends and family can see all over you. When love is present your children can even feel it and they begin to snuggle up to both mom and dad. They just know everything is going to be all right.

Big boxes of chocolates, red roses, heart shaped pink candy, lacy lingerie, with cold wine and soft music. Let’s allow ourselves, even if it’s just for one day, to lose ourselves in all these things.  Let love rule!  Why?  Because it just feels so good.
